Chickenpox is an acute infectious disease. It is unserious, but it can lead to severe complications without careful caring and skin higiene. 

Therefore, to protect your child, yourself and your loved ones from chickenpox, you need to know these information below: 

 What causes chickenpox?

Chicken pox is caused by a virus named Varicella zoster

 How is chickenpox spread?

It spreads from person to person by direct contact with secretions from the respiratory tract or with fluid from the blisters.

 How long chicken pox is infectious for?

Chicken pox is infectious from 2 days before the spots appear to until they’ve crusted over

 What are the Symptoms of chickenpox?

Chickenpox usually lasts about 7 days. The most prominent symptom is the blisters which appear from face and head to the entire body. Other symptoms that children might have are fever, tiredness, etc.

 Symptoms for serious case of chickenpox: large blisters, infection of the pus, rapid breathing, seizures, peritoneal disorders

 Treatment: there is no specific treatment for chickenpox. The treatment mainly focuses on relieving the symptoms and complications.

 How to care for your child at home?

 Reduce iching (use allergy medication) and clean skin well (dress in loose clothe, bath in cool water if your child is not too tired)

 Reduce aching (Take paracetamol to help with pain and discomfort from blisters)

 Drink plenty of fluid and take a rest

 Follow severe symptoms

 Prevention: Children from the age of one should get the chickenpox vaccine and indication.
