Can breast cancer patient eat soybean?

There are many myths that people with breast cancer should limit consume soy products. A 25-year study showed that soy contains isoflavone, which is linked to breast cancer. So is it true that the patients should reduce soybean products? The answer is yes and no.

With a moderate dose, many studies show that soy foods reduce the risk of breast cancer as well as progression and recurrence rate of the disease. A study in China of 73,000 women found that eating at least 13 grams of soy per day reduced the risk of breast cancer by 11%. In addition, studies in the US and in Asia reveal if using soy after breast cancer treatment can significantly reduce the recurrence rate.

Consuming about 90 grams of tofu (soybean products) per day is a moderate amount to improve better health. Should not use or, if used, must consult a doctor with supplements containing isoflavones (breast carcinogens) in excess.

Therefore, soy and soy products do more good than harm for breast cancer patients if eaten in moderation.
